With theWindows 10 May Update, there came a series of bugs and issues that are hard to digest for some. Microsoft is working on solving all of them, but in the meantime usersare facing serious problems.
One of them is the lack of internet connection afterupdating to v1903. Although the company already resolved someconnection problems, others remain.
One userdescribes the problemas follows:
I’ve just updated my PC to the latestWindows updateusing the Update Assistant. It was working ok, but now my router says thatEthernetis not connected and I can’t browse theInternetanymore. Anyone else with that? (Realtekonboard)
This is not the onlyRealtek bugthe update brings, but it’s one that remains unresolved. The other bigRealtekissue that Microsoft acknowledged is with card readers that prevented the installation of the update.
Driver issues can break your Internet connection
To confirm that the problem is triggered by the update itself, and not just from yourrouter, disabling and re-enabling it from the adapter options could do the trick.
If the router is fine, than the problem has much deeper roots and it’s most likely triggered by the Windows 10 v1903 code.
Update your drivers
A possible cause could be the pushing ofDCH versions ofdriversthrough the new update. An incompatibility issue or anoverlap of the different driver versionscan be the root this problem.
Go to Device Manager and update yourdrivers. If that doesn’t change anything, uninstall the olddriver, go to the manufacturer’s website and download the latestEthernetdriversand install them.
Alternatively, you can opt for a third-party software that scans your device and automatically downloads the most relevant drivers in order to optimize your OS.
