Microsoft Visual Studio is probably the most popular development tool for Windows developers, but it still contains some bugs and lags. In order to fix as many things as possible, Microsoft released the KB3001652 update for Visual Studio, but eventually something went wrong. Some time ago, Microsoft started to rollout the update for Visual Studio. The update goes by the name of KB3001652 and it was intended to bring some improvements and lag fixes to the software. The main purpose of this update is to install 2010 tools for Office Runtime, update the premature shut down thread in the WPF user interface, slow Office Shutdown for Visual Studio Tools for Office add-ins on touch-enabled devices that use the WPF controls, and prevent “Unknown Publisher” prompt to show up even if the publisher is fully trusted.

Well unfortunately, users were unable to test these improvements because they weren’t able to even install the update. Reportedly, when you try to apply the patch, it begins to install, but never finishes, making the update system repeating constantly. This problem is not solved even if you reboot your computer. We believe that main cause of this problem are Microsoft’s currently-unstable servers, and that the company would try to fix the things as soon as possible.

For now, we advise all Visual Studio users to avoid installing this update until we have some more information and news, because your Visual Studio software won’t be updated and you’ll be left alone with the endless loop of update installation. Microsoft will surely try to fix all the problems with installation as soon as possible in order to provide its developers proper environment to develop new apps for Windows Store, so stay tuned and we will inform you about the changes as soon as they’re made.
