SharePointis a go-to collaborative tool for so many different enterprises. It greatly supplements Windows Server and makes the organization workflow simple.
Even though licensing should be a simple task, some governing users weren’t able to license theirSharePointand were stopped by the “Thisproduct keycannot be used to convertSharePointServer Trial”error.
How to upgrade SharePoint from Trial to Licensed version
Microsoft SharePointis one of those collaborative intranet tools which uses a subscription-based plan. However, older iterations ofSharePoint, just like Microsoft Office, required one-time purchase licensing in order to use them. Users could go with the Trial version for the limited period and after that had to upgrade to a licensed version.
This should be a walk in a park as long as you have a proper license. Just access the central administration menu and open Upgrade and Migration. Once there, just enter theproduct keyand wait for some time until the activation completes. The server must be online and this action won’t cause any downtime.
On the other hand, if you’re met with the “Thisproduct keycannot be used to convertSharePointServer Trial”error, try again and look for improvements.
You can also test the activation process by using an Enterprise Trial key and then try upgrading the product with the purchased one afterward. The Enterprise Trial key differs based on the version ofSharePointyou’re running.
