Microsoft is all set to launch its next bigupdate, Windows 10 version 1809 in October.

While that should be a nice piece of news for currentWindows 10users, Microsoft has also announced the upcomingupdatewill annul severalfeatureswhile several more will be ticked off the development cycle, meaning those are next in line for abandonment.

The company, however, has stated anyfeaturethat is being canceled won’t create a void as such since those have either been replaced with something better or are in the process of being so.

That said, all apps or more specifically, the code that depends on thefeaturesbeing annulled will henceforth be rendered junk.

Features no longer supported on the Windows 10 October 2018 Update

Thefeaturesthat are set to get the boot to includeBusiness Scanning(also calledDistributed Scan ManagementorDSM) andFontSmoothing settinginunattend.xmlas both have become obsolete.

Trusted Platform Module (TPM)management console to is on the way out, with the info that used to be available in the console now being available in theDevice security pagein theWindows Defender Security Center.

Further,limpet.exethat allows forTPM access for Azure connectivityis being made open source from now on. Hence that too is on the list of expendablefeaturesright now.

These apart, Microsoft has also made it known they won’t be introducing any newupdatesto theWEDU server.

What that means is there won’t be any newupdatesforWindows Embedded Standard 8andWindows Embedded 8 StandardviaWindows Embedded Developer Update.

Instead, users can source relevantupdatesfrom theMicrosoft Update Catalog.

TheHololens apptoo will cease to exist, with theMixed Reality Viewertaking its place instead. Same is the case with thePhone Companion appthatwill cease to existpost the version 1809 update.

Instead, there is going to be the newPhone pageunderSettingsthat would have largely similar functionality, that of syncing your mobile with theWindows 10PC.

Similarly, thefeaturesthat are not being developed any further includeOneSync service,Companion device dynamic lock APISandSnipping Tool.
