The year 2019 started right forWindows 10, as the analyst firms started reporting thatWindows 10 finally overtook Windows 7in terms of market shares.

Well,Windows 10managed to maintain its share in the month of January but things were less favorable in February.

No doubt the operating system still maintains its lead but it recently lost some users and the change is visible. Stats show there has been 0.60 % declin in Windows 10’s market share.

Surprisingly, the share dropped from40.90 % to 40.30 % just in a month. On the other hand,Windows 7‘s market share has seen an increase of 1.22 as it went up from 37.19 % to 38.41 %.

Notably, in the month of JanuaryWindows 10maintained a lead of 3.71 % and but next month the OS was just 1.89 percentage points ahead ofWindows 7.

Additionally,StatCounter‘s figures also revealed the fact thatWindows 7has seen a decline of 1.16 % andWindows 10has seen a growth of 1.6 % in February 2019.

We can clearly see from the figure thatWindows 10standards at 54.78 % market share whileWindows 7holds a share of 33.89%. The latest version of Windows leads with a slight difference of 20.89 %.

4 years after Windows 10’s launch, Windows 7 maintains its user base

It is worth mentioning that it has been 4 years since Microsoft launched its latest version of Windows i.eWindows 10. Therefore, it is going to be a tough fight for Microsoft in the next 12 months to convince users to switch toWindows 10while leavingWindows 7behind.

We have seen that Microsoft has a history of releasingWindows 10 updates with a lot of bugs. That is the reason most of theWindows 7users (individuals and enterprises) are delaying the upgrade toWindows 10.

They clearly don’t want to be a part of a team that is already dealing with critical issues.  Moreover, Microsoft is trying to facilitate the users in this regards by stating that technical assistance will be offered o those enterprises who will face any compatibility issues during the transition process.

Also, the company guaranteesthey will not face any issues while running the apps they have been using onWindows 7for years.

Windows 7users are still of the opinion that Microsoft has to reevaluate its strategy as most of the users in the third world countries are still runningWindows 7powered systems.

They are overwhelmed withall the different issuesthat are being faced by theWindows 10users. It seems the OS has not offered any compelling reasons toWindows 7users to make a transition.

But there is a drawback associated with sticking toWindows 7as you will have topay for extended supporton a per-device basis beyond January 2020.
