The StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty sequel was released worldwide on July 27, 2010. Since then, it’s been split into three installments: the base game Wings of Liberty, its expansion pack titled Heart of the Swarm, and a standalone expansion pack titled Legacy of the Void.
Now it’s been announced that StarCraft II fans will get Nova Covert Ops’ first mission pack on March 29. If you don’t own StarCraft II, you can still play the pack but the free Starter Edition along with a Battle.net account will be required. Blizzard said the following in its press release:
The reign of Emperor Valerian Mengsk is under threat. Along with facing political opposition, several Dominion ghosts have gone missing in action while under his rule. Their trail leads to a secretive Terran group, the Defenders of Man. As Nova Terra, a psionic ghost trained to be the perfect covert operative, you must delve into the conspiracy before it’s too late for the Terran Dominion.
Blizzard said the first of three mission packs brings “new mechanics” to the “classic StarCraft II gameplay” throughout three missions. In Nova Covert Ops, you will play as November “Nova” Terra, tasked with missions involving her infiltrating bases, intercepting invasions, and leveraging experimental technology.
All three Nova Covert Ops mission packs cost $14.99 and the last of them should be released prior to December 1. Each of the three DLC packs for Nova Covert Ops will consist of three single-player episodes.
