Selby survived a late-night comeback from a reinvigorated Mark Allen to win 17-15 and progress to his sixth World Championship final. Meanwhile, Luca Brecel produced the biggest comeback in Crucible history to beat Chinese sensation Si Jiahui 17-15 in the other semi.
“Luca is very dangerous. He is one of the greatest talents we have in the game and it is great to see him fulfilling his talent. We’ve known about it for a long time,” Selby told BBC Sport.
Ronnie O’Sullivan, who fell to Brecel in the quarter-finals, says The Belgian Bullet faces “the ultimate test” in Mark Selby, but believes that anything can happen.
“Selby’s going to try and shut up shop and try and keep Luca under wraps. Luca’s got to try and not allow that to happen. It will happen, but he’s got to try and limit the amount of time that it happens and just try and impose his own game," The Rocket told Eurosport.
