Users ofMicrosoft‘s Peopleapphave recently reported thatappis missing some functionality afterWindows 10Upgrade. Since this is not the first timeMicrosoftcut some features from its Peopleapp, that might mean thatMicrosoftis planning to discontinue this feature in the future. The problem inWindows 10occurred when some people, including myself, tried to include friends from social networks to theapp. Namely, when you want to connect Peopleappwith any social networkappavailable ofWindows 10, it just redirects you to null page in theStore, with the message “Your search for “” had no results.” This means that no social networkappthat can be found in theStoreis compatible with Peopleapp.
This is probablyMicrosoft‘s omission, because some social networkapps, like Facebook, have sync option for Peopleapp, but when you try to sync them, simply nothing happens. This could very easily be done on purpose, becauseMicrosoftmaybe plans to shut down thisappin the future. And sinceMicrosoftalready discontinued some of its own apps that weren’t so popular, we tend to believe in this theory even more.
Also, when people complained about this onMicrosoftforums, the staff simply answered that there are no socialappsthat support integration with Peopleapp, currently. They didn’t mention if there will be any updates or fixes for this in the future, which also indicates to the fact thatMicrosoftplans to shut thisappdown sooner or later.
What do you think about thisMicrosoft‘s policy of shutting down ‘not so popular’apps? Did you use Peopleapp, and will you miss it ifMicrosoftdecides to shut it down? Tell us your opinions in the comments, below.
