Skypehas undergone drastic changes in recent times, as Microsoft ditchedClassic Skype 7.0and moved toSkype8.0. Let’s start by saying that on the recent releases ofSkype(both Desktop and UWP versions) you don’t need to add contacts or friends in order to chat, or make video orVoIP calls. Just look them up in the Search bar and send them a message. They’ll get the message request, and should they choose to accept, you’ll see them in your Contacts list in the left pane. That’s it.

Later on, you can add their landline numbers for calls or change the details of each individual contact. Our guess is that they’ll need some time to adjust to these enforced novelties from Microsoft.

Microsoft decided to fix what’s not broken, but that’s the software development thing sometimes — changing things just for the sake of changing. In spite of the enormous public backlash.
