Gears of War 4 to support crossplay by the end of January

The Coalition really means business in 2017. The company recently rolled out a massiveGoW 4 Title Update 3, deploying a long list of game changes and bug fixes. Good news follows that up: The Coalition’s PezRadar recently confirmed that crossplay is in the works and could be implemented by the end of January.

Likewise, weapon tuning and crossplay are still in the works and we are hoping to have those items finalized by end of month. We will be providing updates over the coming weeks regarding both of these items.

For the time being, no further details are available regarding crossplay support, but TC should offer more information in the coming weeks.

As a quick reminder, TC held acrossplay weekend testat the end of November but has yet to publish the results of this experiment.

Crossplay is a highly divisive subject and TC itself stated from the very beginning that its intention is to keep both platforms separate in non-cooperative game modes in order to preserve competitive balance. The purpose of the crossplay weekend was to give Crossplay a trial run in a public playlist.

There are many players requesting crossplay support, especially because there just aren’t enough GoW 4 PC players out there. The data collected during the public crossplay trial allows The Coalition to see whether crossplay is feasible or not. Judging by the company’s latest statement, it appears the experiment yielded positive results. WhetherGoW 4 playersneed to meet certain requirement to access crossplay or not is still unknown, however.
