The recently launched Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview Build 14342 offers a plethora of fixes for annoying issues, but also brought build install issues. This is not the first time when build install does not go according to plan. Many users could not install the previous Mobile build because ofthe 0x80070002 error, which has been fixed in the current build.
Thousands ofInsiders reportedgetting stuck at the Windows logo screen after the post-install reboot for build 14342. Although nothing seems to be happening while the Windows logo freezes on the screen, the build is working in the background. Users shouldsimply wait for about 40 minutesand allow the device to finish the install.
We are seeing reports of users getting stuck at the Windows logo screen after the post-install reboot for build 14342.1001. We’re actively looking into this issue.
Workaround: although much longer than usual, waiting 30-40 minutes at the Windows logo screen allows the device proceeds as normal with data migration and finishing the install.
If you hit this issue, please wait this extended time and allow the install to complete. It is also recommended to plug your device into a charger to help prevent excessive battery drain while the update process completes.
For some users, this passive solution did not work and the phone did not complete the install. The second solution for them is toforce the reboot.
This workaround solves the issue, Insiders confirmed:
FYI: My Lumia 950XL also got stuck on the Windows Logo screen. After waiting for approx. 90 minutes no change, so I did the power button reboot sequence. The Phone gracefully restarted and continued installation at step 1 (2?) of migrating data. It is up and running now and all seem well as far as I can tell. Nice 🙂
The good news is that Microsoft guarantees this bug will not break your phone and patience will eventually solve everything.
