If you’re looking to edit images or create digital art from scratch, then Adobe’s family of products may be among the first things that may come to mind. One of the components of this software family is Adobe Lightroom and millions of subscribers use it around the world.
Unfortunately, Adobe Lightroom is still software and, as we all know, software can still be prone to bugs and issues.
One good example is an issue users have beenreportingon official forums, where newly-created files and folders don’t appear in Lightroom CC.
Clean install of L CC onto win 10 PC. Not all the folders in my files show up in the folders area on the left hand side. If I try to import them LR says they have been imported. Result is that I can’t work on many of my images in LR CC. Any suggestions?
Since the program cannot show users newly-created or imported files and folders, it limits much of the functionality. That is why we’ve created this step-by-step guide that will show you precisely what you need to do to see the folders again.
How can I make new folders appear in Lightroom CC again?
1. Turn off filters

2. Make sure files are in the right location
Lightroom has a history of having issues moving files. That is why the best thing to do is to move files outside of Lightroom, using the traditional Copy and Paste combination.
Additionally, whether the newly created folders are on a removable hard drive or not. If they are, make sure the external hard drive is properly connected to the PC.
3. Make sure the folders are accessible
Folders that don’t have read and write permissions granted to them will not appear in Lightroom. You can change this by right-clicking the folder and disabling the box labeled Read-only.
Additionally, make sure that the folders are not hidden since these too are inaccessible by Lightroom.
By following the above-mentioned steps, you should be able to view any folder in Lightroom CC, regardless of whether it is new, old, native or imported.
If you’re aware of another way to solve this problem, share it in the comments section below so that other users can try it, as well.
