Key notes

You might not have known this if you’re just an everyday Edge user, Microsoft Edge Canary Insiders received an update that has introduced a tightly requested feature.

We know there still are a lot of other requests to also fulfill, but this latest software brings one of the most sought-after accessibility features, and that is double-clicking in order to close a tab.

It took the Redmond company quite a while, but after a long wait, the feature is finally available, although currently only in the Canary channel.

Double click to close tabs feature comes to Edge Canary

Asdiscoveredby Canary Insiders, the above-mentioned option that allows us to close a tab with a double click is available in the accessibility settings.

Keep in mind that it will be disabled by default, so you need to navigate to Edge Settings, select the Accessibility tab and turn on theUse double-click to close browser tabsoption.

Immediately after doing so, you can simply double-click any open tab with the left mouse button to instantly get rid of it.

We remind you that you can also use other shortcuts for closing a webpage, such as the middle mouse button or theCtrl+Wshortcut.

Now, as much as we know you would enjoy already testing this latest feature, remember that you are still on the Canary channel, meaning that double-click to close a tab is available for a limited number of Insiders.

But you shouldn’t worry about that, as it will soon become available to all Insiders, and eventually to the Stable Release Channel when it is deemed ready

Are you among the lucky Edge Canary Insiders that got to test this feature? Share your experience with us in the comments section below.
